Choose Treatment

People who have a substance use disorder probably believe the negative beliefs that our society has attached to individuals who are misusing alcohol and drugs. In the United States, many people believe that addiction is a moral problem and that people with substance use disorders are making a choice to continue using and misusing substances. Even though addiction is a brain disease that can be medically treated, people suffering this disorder are blamed for their problems. This stigma creates shame, guilt and fear, especially among women. I know. I’ve been there. And this shame, guilt and fear is especially increased in pregnant women, preventing thousands of pregnant women from getting the treatment they need to recover. Please choose treatment…for the good of your baby and for the good of your future.
